According to a statement released by the IDF on X late Wednesday night, the incident occurred on January 7 when an Israeli Air Force (IAF) aircraft, directed by troops, targeted individuals operating a drone near Rafah, posing a threat to IDF soldiers.

Kamboj acknowledged the terror attacks in Israel on October 7 as the immediate trigger, expressing unequivocal condemnation.

Erdan accused the UN of becoming a "tool of war" for Hamas and criticized its singular focus on Gaza, neglecting the Israeli hostages.

During the meeting, Kamboj refrained from explicitly naming the parties involved in the conflict but underscored the opposition to terrorism, particularly alluding to accusations against Hamas.

In a press statement released on Monday, the Ministry disclosed that within the last 24 hours, the Israeli army has claimed the lives of 249 Palestinians while injuring 510 others. 

Israeli authorities have launched an inquiry into potential sexual crimes stemming from the deadliest attack in Israel's history. Hamas, however, denies any involvement in the reported abuses.

The Palestinian Health Ministry issued a statement on Sunday, asserting that the seven casualties were civilians, including four brothers from the village of Muthalath ash-Shuhada in the Jenin area of the northern West Bank, according to Xinhua news agency.

Moreover, the IDF and Shin Bet reported the elimination of Ismail Siraj, the commander of Hamas' Nuseirat battalion in central Gaza, and his deputy, Ahmed Wahaba, in an airstrike. This battalion was allegedly responsible for the attacks on Kibbutz Be'eri in October.

In the past 24 hours alone, at least 125 Palestinians were killed, and 318 others were injured. The number of injured persons has risen to 57,614.
