"I have nothing to do with illegal mining. The news that are being run against me on illegal mining is untrue and misleading," the MP wrote in a social media post.

BJP leaders Pon Radhakrishnan and CP Radhakrishnan had won from these seats respectively. Since Coimbatore and Kanyakumari is a stronghold for the BJP at the grassroots level,  there is a likelihood of Modi being considered for either of the two seats.

The statement comes right after his son, former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy's statement that JD(S) and BJP will fight unitedly against the ruling Congress party. Deve Gowda said the JD(S) would face parliamentary elections independently thus contradicting his son Kumaraswamy's statement. "There is still sufficient time for the Lok Sabha polls and an appropriate decision would be taken later," Kumaraswamy had stated earlier.

"Just shouting in public would not address his issues. He is older than me and he can get angry but I want to advise him to discuss issues in the alliance to address the problems. Just going into the media and shouting in public would not help him," Paswan, who reached Hajipur, said.

Besides, the allies also targeted the Opposition’s unity efforts, saying that the Opposition is “facing an identity crisis and is beset by confusion and disorientation”. Shiv Sena President and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde put forward the resolution during the NDA meeting held at The Ashok Hotel in New Delhi on Tuesday. 

However, local party JD-S has opted out of the meet amid the rumours of the party joining the BJP-led NDA. Posters welcoming the national leaders have been erected in Bengaluru's city arterial roads as the Congress, which is ruling the state, wants to send out a message to the country.

Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress president D.K. Shivakumar and mining baron turned politician Gali Janardhana Reddy have pulled no punches in their attacks on the BJP for 'misusing' the central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax Department and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against them.    

The BJP has called a meeting of NDA constituents on July 18 in New Delhi to ensure better coordination among the allies during the monsoon session of Parliament, which will commence on July 20. It is being said that the positive result of the BJP's search for new allies would be visible in the coming days and BJP's old allies like the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) may also attend the NDA meeting. Further, it is speculated that the JD(S) from Karnataka would also join the NDA meeting.

While Chirag Paswan marked the 77 birth anniversary of his late father Ram Vilas Paswan in his traditional constituency in Hajipur and announced that he will contest from this seat in 2024, his uncle and Union Minister Pasupati Kumar Paras said that he will also contest from there only.

Celebrating the birth anniversary of his father and party's founder Ram Vilas Paswan, Lok Janshakti Party-Ramvilas (LJPR) President Chirag Paswan said: “I was watching a video of my father on Wednesday morning and he was wishing me to contest the Lok Sabha election from Hajipur seat one day.”
