Rs 1.06L Cr GST compensation shortfall released to states

Till now, 96 per cent of the total estimated GST compensation shortfall has been released to the states and UTs with Legislative Assemblies. Out of this, an amount of Rs 97,242.03 crore has been released to the states and an amount of Rs 8,861.97 crore has been released to the 3 UTs with Legislative Assemblies.
Deadline for filing GST returns extended till March 31

In a statement on Sunday, the Department of Revenue said that the decision has been taken considering the difficulties expressed by the taxpayers in meeting the deadline. Earlier the deadline for filing the returns was extended February 28.

Till now, 76 per cent of the total estimated GST compensation shortfall has been released to the states and UTs with the Legislative Assembly. Out of this, a number of Rs 76,616.16 crore has been released to the states and a number of Rs 7,383.84 crore has been released to the three UTs with the Legislative Assembly.
GST fraud of Rs 940 cr busted, 340 bogus firms under lens

According to CyPAD, as many as 340 bogus companies suspected to be involved in fake business transactions are under the scanner. Police said that in order to generate the GST number, the fraudsters used fake or stolen PAN and Aadhaar cards. They have registered fake firms on GST portal and also procured multiple SIM cards on fake documents.
January GST collection at nearly Rs 1.2 lakh cr

Out of the total GST collection, CGST was Rs 21,923 crore, SGST was Rs 29,014 crore, IGST was Rs 60,288 crore (including Rs 27,424 crore collected on import of goods) and cess was Rs 8,622 crore (including Rs 883 crore collected on import of goods), a Finance Ministry statement said.
