Despite the agitating farmers assurance that the proposed 'chakka jam' would not be implemented in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi, the Delhi Police as a precautionary measure have intensified security arrangements with special focus on bordering areas where the protesting farmers have been present since November 26 last year.

There will also not be any chakka jam programme in DelhiNCR since all the protest sites are already in a 'chakka jam' mode. All the roads for entering Delhi will remain open except where farmers' protest sites are already located. Security has been beefed up at strategic locations and the Delhi Police would be keeping an eye on the protest build up in the bordering states and protest sites close to the border such as Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur. The Delhi Police are also in touch with the police in bordering states such as Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and collecting intelligence inputs in close coordination with the state police.

Earlier in the day, Congress member in the Rajya Sabha from Haryana Deepender Hooda lashed out at the Centre for the serious situation arising out of the farmers' movement. Tomar said that contract farming in Punjab has provisions that may land a farmer in jail with a fine of upto Rs 5 lakh, whereas the central government's new farm legislation gives complete liberty to a farmer.

Delhi Police, to further investigate the case, is going to take Google’s help to trace the IP address of the authors who uploaded the toolkit on the ongoing farmers’ protest in the national capital. The Delhi Police said that more than 300 social media accounts, which were seen spreading malicious content on farmers’ protest, have been identified.
Priyanka meets family of deceased farmer in UP

Priyanka reached the residence of the deceased farmer in the Dibdiba village in Vilaspur tehsil in the afternoon and attended the 'Antim Ardas' (prayer meeting). She offered her condolences and paid floral tributes. UP farmers to increase participation in agitation

The various Khap Panchayats in western Uttar Pradesh that have been holding meetings in different districts have decided that at least one member from every farmer family will join the protest in Delhi.The farmers will begin moving to the Ghazipur border over the weekend.
