Samsung estimates $11 bn in Q2 profit riding on chip biz
In its earnings guidance, the South Korean tech giant estimated its operating profit at 14 trillion won ($11 billion) for the April-June period, up 11.38 per cent from a year ago. Its Q2 operating income estimate is slightly lower than analysts' earnings expectations of 14.5 trillion won in the data compiled by Yonhap Infomax, the financial arm of Yonhap News Agency.

The TWS (true wireless stereo) segment was the main driver in India, growing 92 per cent to reach 7.3 million units, said global market research firm Canalys. Overall, the global smart personal audio market declined by 1.2 per cent to reach 118.8 million units. India's local leader, boAt, broke into the top five for the first time, shipping 2.8 million units.
Samsung invests record $13.4 bn in R&D through Q3
Samsung invested a total of 16.19 trillion won ($13.73 billion) in R&D in the January-September period, up 289 billion won from a year earlier, to mark its largest spending ever during the cited period, according to its quarterly business report.
