Indian Firm Optiemus Partners with US Giant TP-Link to Strengthen 'Make in India' Initiative

In this tie-up, OEL will manufacture a range of telecom and IoT products including GPON (ONT), security cameras, home Wi-Fi routers, enterprise routers, modems/gateways, SOHO switches, and other network expansion devices.

Homegrown electronics company Optiemus Electronics (OEL) on Monday announced a partnership deal with TP-Link, the leading global electronics brand, to manufacture networking devices and smart home products in the country.

In this tie-up, OEL will manufacture a range of telecom and IoT products including GPON (ONT), security cameras, home Wi-Fi routers, enterprise routers, modems/gateways, SOHO switches, and other network expansion devices.

These devices will be produced in OEL's high-tech manufacturing plant, which has a capacity of up to 6 million units annually.

Production of these products is expected to start in February this year and finished products will be available in the domestic market by March 2025, according to the companies.

Together, both are expected to see an increase in exports as well because they plan to develop and manufacture products intended for overseas markets.

As collaboration, this event supports the Make in India vision of the Indian Government and also India's dream for becoming an electric and telecom products manufacturing hub.

TP-Link is also investing in the development of a robust local supply chain for power adapters and mechanical parts, thus significantly reducing import dependence and ensuring control over supply.

 "This rapid growth in data consumption and broadband adoption in India provides an excellent opportunity to meet this vibrant market's needs with products manufactured locally," said Sanjay Sehgal, Director and COO of TP-Link.

Optiemus Electronics has two units in Noida. TP-Link Systems, headquartered in the US, has its presence in over 170 countries and is expanding globally.
