German brand Blaupunkt to invest Rs 100 cr in TV manufacturing in India, eyes 10% market share
The investment will be aimed towards new launches, manufacturing plant, sound technology, marketing and expansion plan.
The company will also introduce 5 new Dolby-enabled Android/Google TVs on June 5, including 75 QLED, 65 4K(GTV), 50 4K(GTV), 43 FHD, 40 FHD and 32 HD, starting from Rs 10,888.
India's electronics sector exports cross Rs 1,85,000 cr, mobiles alone surpass Rs 90K cr
The mobile phone exports made history by crossing the $10 billion threshold for the first time in any fiscal year, reaching an estimated $ 11.12 billion (over Rs 90,000 crore) in FY23. Mobile phone exports rose from Rs 45,000 crore in FY 21-22 to Rs 90,000 crore, surpassing the previous estimate of Rs 75,000 crore.
India's electronic goods export rose 22.39% in 5 years
According to data released by the ministry of electronics and IT, the country's electronics export is expected to reach Rs 1.76 lakh crore in 2022-23. The global exports of electronic goods from major manufacturing economies (including China, Vietnam, Mexico, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, the US and Germany) is approximately $1.5 trillion out of the global exports of $2.5 trillion, which includes a lot of re-exports.
US, India semiconductor groups forge initiative to boost chip ecosystem
The task force will develop a "readiness assessment" regarding the semiconductor ecosystem in India and gather industry, government, and academic stakeholders to identify near-term industry opportunities and facilitate longer-term strategic development of complementary semiconductor ecosystems. Samsung's profit jumps 50% over robust server chips, mobile sales
The world's largest memory chip and mobile phone maker said its operating profit rose more than 50 per cent to $11.1 billion (year-over-year) in a regulatory filing, reports Yonhap News Agency. Sales increased 18.9 per cent on-year to 77.7 trillion won in the first quarter, the all-time quarterly record and the third consecutive quarter that the tech giant has logged more than 70 trillion won in quarterly sales. Prices of memory chips, which support a great portion of Samsung's top and bottom lines, held up better than expected.
European consumer electronics firm Thomson eyes 10% market share in India
European consumer electronics firm Thomson on Thursday announced a range of air conditioners in India with an aim to capture 10 per cent market share. With the launch of its four models in the Cool Pro Max Aseries, Thomson ACs will be available in fixed-speed and inverter segments, with the capacity of 1 tonne and 1.5-tonne each. Available on Flipkart, starting March 22, Thomson ACs will be up for grabs at an introductory offer prices starting Rs 26,490.
Semicon India Programme receives proposals worth $20.5bn
Accordingly, the proposals were received during the first round of application submission for the Centre's 'Semicon India Programme'. Last year, the Union Cabinet approved the Semicon India Programme with an outlay of Rs 76,000 crore to ensure development of 'Semiconductor and Display' ecosystem in the country.
Vedanta, Foxconn to set up joint venture to manufacture semiconductors in India
“This first-of-its-kind joint venture between the two companies will support Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to create an ecosystem for semiconductor manufacturing in India… Vedanta will hold the majority of the equity in the JV, while Foxconn will be the minority shareholder. Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal will be the Chairman of the joint venture company,” a press release by Foxconn read.

The PLI for large-scale electronics manufacturing was notified on April 1, 2020 which provides an incentive of 4 to 6 percent on incremental sales (over base year) to eligible companies involved in mobile phone manufacturing and manufacturing of specified electronic components, including assembly, testing, marking and packaging (ATMP) units.
