EU says Apple Pay anticompetitive, restricting rival mobile wallets
In its preliminary ruling, the Commission said that by limiting access to a standard technology used for contactless payments with mobile devices in stores ('Near-Field Communication (NFC)' or 'tap and go'), Apple restricts competition in the mobile wallets market on iOS.
Apple is now assembling iPhone 13 in Brazil
According to 9to5Mac, a user recently bought an iPhone 13 in Brazil and, to his surprise, the box indicates that the product was "Assembled in Brazil". The model number, MLPF3BR/A, confirms that the device was indeed assembled in the country, as the units sold in Brazil that are imported from China have the identifier "BZ/A" instead. However, for some unknown reason, it seems that only the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 is being assembled at Foxconn Brazil, located in Jundiai, Sao Paulo.

According to data shared by market intelligence firm CyberMedia Research (CMR), iPhones in India registered an overall growth of 22 per cent in the Q1 2022, led by iPhone 12 and 13 sales. "Our insights point to the contribution of 'Make in India' iPhones in Q1 2022, increasing 50 per cent YoY. The contribution of newer generation iPhones, such as iPhone 13, is almost equal to iPhone 12," Prabhu Ram, Head- Industry Intelligence Group at CMR, told IANS.

"Three key Apple suppliers have suspended production in and near Shanghai as strict Covid-19 lockdown measures show signs of affecting the US tech giant's supply chain in China," the report said late on Tuesday.
Apple reportedly testing 9-inch foldable device
The delay for the launch of a foldable iPhone is quite long if it is not getting official until 2025. Earlier, the device was rumoured to launch sometime in 2023 or 2024 to catch up with the competition in the market. But the delay in the launch indicates that the tech giant is not in a hurry to enter the foldable smartphones market. iPad Pro with 'M2' chip, MagSafe charging may launch in Sep
Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is reportedly planning to launch iPad Pro with the rumoured M2 chip sometime between September and November of this year. According to Apple tracker Mark Gurman's Power On newsletter, Apple did not launch new iPad Pros this month at its "Peek Performance" event, it is reasonable to now expect new models to arrive between September and November this year.
