Potential iPhone 14 demand continues to grow in China: Report
In a tweet, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that his continued conversations with distributors, retailers, and scalpers in China has led him to believe that "potential demand for the iPhone 14 series is continuing to increase," reports AppleInsider. According to Kuo, this is likely because Apple "almost dominates" the high-end smartphone market in China after Huawei exited the 5G market in the wake of a US ban that left the company unable to source many of its core components and technologies.
iPhone, iPad users to soon get PiP mode on YouTube
In a bid to woo iOS users, Google-owned streaming platform Youtube has announced that it is rolling out its much-awaited Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for iOS devices in the coming days. With this new feature, iOS users can watch YouTube videos in a small mini player while simultaneously browsing other apps on their mobile devices.
iPhone 14 component shipments now underway ahead of launch
The report likely refers to components being shipped to manufacturers like Foxconn for the final assembly of iPhone 14 models over the next few months, MacRumors reported on Monday citing DigiTimes. "Component suppliers have recently kicked off their shipments for the next-generation iPhone series slated for launch later this year," the report was quoted as saying.

According to MacRumors, the tech giant updated its iOS 15 installation numbers for the first time in five months, giving us a clearer picture of just how many devices are running the latest update nine months after it launched. Only one per cent have an earlier version of iOS installed, the report said. When taking into account iPhones released more than four years ago, 82 per cent of all devices are running iOS 15.
iPhone maker Foxconn foresees recovery amid global uncertainties
In a shareholders' meeting at the company's headquarters in New Taipei City, Young Liu, chairman of Foxconn, raised the company's outlook for the current quarter and the full year, reports Nikkei Asia. "We previously forecast this year we would maintain a similar level from last year, after factoring in inflation, war (in Ukraine) and other uncertainties, but now we think the full year will be better than our estimate," Liu told shareholders.

According to GizmoChina, while the iPhone 13 Pro series arrived with a ProMotion display that had a 120Hz refresh rate, it seems that this year's iPhone 14 Pro models will also feature this display technology along with some upgrades. For those unaware, the iPhone 13 Pro series sported LTPO panels that had variable refresh rates that allowed for better power efficiency.

Apple has reportedly cut a Chinese supply chain partner and has chosen South Korean company LG Innotek for the new front-facing camera, citing ET News, AppleInsider reported. The new camera setup is set to cost as much as three times more than previous iPhone front-facing cameras.
iPhone app Yik Yak exposes millions of user locations
David Teather, a computer science student, last month, found that the iPhone app's flaw let attackers obtain both the precise location for posts and users' unique IDs. "I was able to access the precise GPS coordinates (accurate to within 10-15ft) of all posts and comments on the Yik Yak platform, this leaves at least 2 million users at risk. This number is likely higher, as this user count is six months old," he wrote in a blog post.
Apple AirTags sending false alarms to iPhone users in midnight
According to The Wall Street Journal, some iPhone users have begun receiving alerts, often in the middle of the night, for AirTags that might not be in their path at all. "The pop-up alerts have sparked confusion and concern, and have led recipients on wild goose chases," the report said late on Friday. In normal cases, when a person receives an unknown AirTag alert, they're supposed to see an accompanying map that shows where and how long the AirTag was detected on their person.
