Ashes 2023: Stuart Broad becomes second fast-bowler to pick 600 Test wickets

The 36-year old Broad achieved the historic feat after taking the wicket of Australia's left-handed batter Travis Head. His England team-mate James Anderson, is the only other fast-bowler to have more than 600 Test wickets.

After posting 269 in 49 overs on a slow pitch where strokeplay wasn't easy, Zampa and Agar helped Australia fight back in the middle overs to break the back of India's batting. Even though Mitchell Starc went wicketless, the rest of bowlers along with fiery fielding show and spot-on fielding placements led to India being bundled out for 248 in 49.1 overs.

On Wednesday, in the ODI series decider between India and Australia at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Kuldeep bowled a delivery which was totally unplayable to rattle the stumps of Alex Carey. Carey looked to defend from the crease against a leg-break from Kuldeep in the 39th over which was pitched around leg-stump.
3rd ODI: Hardik, Kuldeep take three wickets each as lower order batters carry Australia to 269

A majority of their batters lost their wickets on a slow pitch where shot-making wasn't easy, especially of aerial shots. Hardik kept banging his deliveries to pick 3/44 while Kuldeep got sharp turn to take 3/56. The duo were supported by Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel taking two wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja bowled tight lines while conceding only 34 runs in his ten uninterrupted overs.

Starc, who had picked a three-fer in the first ODI in Mumbai, produced yet another stunning exhibition of swing bowling to finish with 5-53. He began by taking out openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma on wider deliveries, before trapping Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul lbw with fantastic inswingers and closing India's innings at 117 with Siraj's scalp.

After Starc, who had picked a three-fer in the first ODI in Mumbai, produced yet another stunning exhibition of early swing bowling to scythe through the top order and then took out Mohammed Siraj to finish with 5-53 to bowl out India for 117, Marsh and Head thrashed Indian bowlers all around the park to chase down the total with 39 balls to spare.

Warner had returned home after suffering a concussion and a hairline fracture in his left elbow during the Test series and despite three-week rest, has not fully recovered from the injury. The 36-year-old left-handed opener will face a fitness test of sorts during nets on Thursday and seasoned all-rounder Mitchell Marsh said he will not be rushed unless he is 100 percent fit. Marsh said Warner will be assessed on Thursday and "hopefully he comes through".
