Nations, regions forge initiative to phase out fossil fuel extraction

Called the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance (BOGA), the effort brings together countries and subnational jurisdictions that have committed to ending new licensing rounds for oil and gas exploration and production, or have taken steps towards that goal, and recognise that phasing out fossil fuel extraction is an urgent and crucial component of tackling the climate crisis.
COP26: India commits to enhance transition to zero emission vehicles

30 countries including Canada, the UK, and Mexico and 6 major automakers including Ford, Mercedes-Benz, General Motors and Volvo  also pledged to cooperate with each other to make zero emission Vehicles the new normal by making them accessible, affordable, and sustainable in all regions by 2030 or sooner.
Electric vehicle sales set to jump 80% in 2021: Report at COP26

The Factbook documents the progress that has been made towards global net-zero emissions in the road transport sector, and shows that the future is brighter than ever for zero-emission vehicles. In the first half of 2021, sales of passenger electric vehicles (including battery electric, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell vehicles) were 140 per cent higher than the same period in 2019, reaching seven per cent of global passenger vehicle sales.

10 publishers behind 69% climate change misinformation on Facebook

The 10 fringe publishers, titled 'The Toxic Ten,' are fuelling 69 per cent of digital climate change denial content on Facebook. The science is undeniable and human activity is warming our planet at an ever-accelerating rate and leading to catastrophic climate change, it said. "Yet, 10 publishers -- 'The Toxic Ten' -- are spreading baseless, unscientific climate denial on their own websites and across social media," the CCDH said in a statement. "It's a climate denial propaganda machine funded in part by Google via ad revenue, and spread across the world via social media, in particular Facebook, who allow them to pay to promote their denial," the Center added. Meta, Facebook's parent company, disputed the CCDH findings.
