BJP trashes Congress' 'security breach' claim, calls it 'baseless'

"This morning, a huge crowd had gathered. But unfortunately, the police arrangement completely collapsed. Cops who had to hold the crowd were nowhere to be seen. So my security people were very much concerned with me continuing. So I had to cancel my walk, while other people continued," party MP Rahul Gandhi, who is leading the Yatra, said at a press briefing.

BJY stopped at Qazigund town of Anantnag district after K.C. Venugopal alleged security lapse in the yatra. Rahul Gandhi was ferried out in a car after the senior Congress leader's allegations. Congress said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra has been stopped as the Yatra has not been provided with further security.

The CPI-M has decided to duck the concluding celebrations of the Yatra because when it began in September from Kanyakumari and reached Kerala, it was not given enough importance and that's now being touted as the reason for not taking part in Kashmir. However, the CPI will take part in the event in Kashmir.

Chaudhary fell during the rush of the yatra in Phillaur town and was taken to a hospital in Phagwara in an ambulance where he died. Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa said Chaudhary was walking along with a fellow MP from Kerala and suddenly collapsed.
