IPL 2024: Suryakumar Yadav's Stellar Century Leads Mumbai Indians to Victory Over Sunrisers Hyderabad

The century was Suryakumar's first of the season and the first since December 2023, after he had recovered from an injury and undergone a sports hernia surgery. Mumbai Indians faced a mountainous challenge of chasing down a moderate total on a pitch that favored the bowlers to some extent. After a shaky start of 31/3, with skipper Hardik Pandya and Piyush Chawla wreaking havoc with three wickets each, Mumbai Indians' innings seemed to be on the brink of a familiar collapse, much like the one experienced last week against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets in the Match 55 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The comeback from Mumbai Indians for the fans was a slight disappointment as they witnessed a dramatic comeback by the Mumbai team.

But Suryakumar Yadav had another set of ideas in mind as he showed his old-fashioned 360-degree shot-making, guiding Mumbai Indians to victory. A flurry of boundaries and sixes saw Suryakumar steer his team to victory as he finished the chase with an emphatic six, taking the target of 174/3 in just 17.2 overs. This just in - his unbeaten knock was scored from 12 boundaries and six maximums, with a bowling strike rate of 200.00, leaving Sunrisers players stunned and the crowd enthralled. This crucial victory lifted Mumbai Indians from the cellar to the ninth position on the points table, while Sunrisers Hyderabad remained in the fourth position.

In early play, the Sunrisers Hyderabad had a lead of 174/8 after they were put in to bat against Mumbai Indians. Travis Head topped the score in their innings as he scored 48 runs, but the innings suffered following his dismissal, and three wickets were picked by Hardik Pandya and Piyush Chawla.
