BWF Para Badminton World: This win is huge for me, says Pramod Bhagat
Pramod Bhagat defeated compatriot Nitesh Kumar 21-19, 21-19 in 53 minutes to clinch the gold medal in the men's singles SL3 event. The match was tightly contested but Pramod managed to hold his nerves and had an answer to everything that Nitesh through at him. In the men's doubles, Pramod and his Men's doubles partner Manoj Sarkar went down fighting to Indonesia's Hikmat Ramdani and Ukun Rukaendi in 3 sets to settle for silver the final score read 21-14, 18-21, 13-21.
Para-badminton World Championship: Pramod Bhagat reaches singles, doubles finals
Pramod Bhagat, who is playing his seventh career World Championships, has won a total of five gold, one silver and three bronze medals in singles and doubles in the six championships he has played. Moreover, except for the 2007 and 2017 World Championships, Pramod has reached the finals in all the editions. Saturday's exciting semifinal match was between Pramod Bhagat and Japan's Daisuki Fujihara in which Pramod entered the final with a score of 22-20, 21-14. He will meet his countryman Nitesh Kumar in the final.

Ramadass first saw off compatriot Shanthiya Viswanathan 21-8, 21-8 and rode the momentum as she paired with Mandeep Kaur, who exited in her women's singles SL3 event, to defeat the pair of Joshi and Viswanathan 21-17, 21-15.

Ale and Hubaida, the world No.6 pair in men's doubles WH1-WH2, got the better of the Spanish pair of Ignacio Fernandez and Francisco Motero 21-12, 21-8 to top their group. However, Ale highlighted Wednesday's win against Thailand's Dumnern Junthong and Anuwat Sriboran 21-17, 23-21 as the turning point.

Sre paired with Paralympic champion and Basel 2019 bronze medallist Krishna Nagar to pull off an easy 21-8, 21-9 win over Egypt's Yasmina Eissa and Ivan Segura Escobar of Spain in a Group A mixed doubles SH6 match. The 17-year-old Sre later took just 15 minutes to win 21-4, 21-4 over Lam Ching Yung of Hong Kong in her opening Group B women's singles SH6 game.

Seeded No.2 in the Men's Singles SL-4 event, which begins tomorrow in Tokyo, Japan, the Pune based shuttler looks ahead to improve upon his bronze medal performance that he achieved in the last edition held in Basel, Switzerland in 2019. "Personally, winning gold is the ultimate aim, but in realistic understanding making the final will be a step forward," says Sukant, who will be playing his third World Championship. Earlier, Sukant played in 2017 Ulsan, Korea edition (quarterfinalist) and 2019.
French Open badminton: Viktor Axelsen clinches men's singles title
The 28-year-old produced a masterful performance to take the title in straight games (21-14, 21-15), falling to his knees in jubilation after 43 minutes of play. With this win, Axelsen became the most successful player on the men's world tour, overtaking Japan's Kento Momota with 16 wins in 21 finals compared to Momota's 15 from 21. On the other hand, Gemke has yet to win a game from the maestro but will be happy with his improving form after an injury-plagued 2021 season.

The fourth seeded Indian saved six match points in the second game but lost the final 14-21, 20-22 to become only the fourth Indian to win a silver medal in the competition. Aparna Popat(1996), Saina Nehwal (2006) and Siril Verma (2015) are the other silver medallists from India with Saina bagging the only world junior crown for the country in 2008.

With this, Satwik and Chirag's also won their first-ever super 750 and second BWF World Tour title this year. This was their fourth BWF World Tour title, but the previous three were lower tier tournaments. Their first, the Hyderabad Open 2018, was a Super 100 tournament while the Thailand Open 2019 and India Open 2022 were both Super 500 events.

Chirag and Satwiksairaj, the seventh seeds, will face either Chinese Taipei's Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han or English duo Ben Lane and Sean Vendy in what will be their second-ever BWF Super 750 final as a team. The first incidentally came at the 2019 French Open, where the Indian duo lost the title decider to Indonesian aces Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.
