The sedan will be based on Volkswagen’s MQB A0 IN (Modularer QuerBaukasten/ Modular Transversal Toolkit) platform which has a transverse, front-engine, front-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive layout. The same platform has been employed by Volkswagen Taigun. After it is launched in the market it will replace Vento, as per media reports. VW Vento was the company’s first mid-sized sedan in India.

"To offset rising input and operational costs, a price correction is necessary," Audi India head Balbir Singh Dhillon said in a statement. "The new price range of our select vehicles will ensure the brand's premium price positioning thereby assuring sustainable growth both for the brand and our dealer partners." In 2021, Audi India launched nine new products including five all-electric cars.

"With the three offerings, we have a proposition for every type of EV customer in the small but growing luxury SUV space. To ease the transition to electric mobility - we are offering several benefits and packages including after-sales, charging and ownership," Audi India head Balbir Singh Dhillon said.

The Audi e-tron is a broad SUV with a well-defined straight roof, whereas the 'e-tron Sportback' is an athletic SUV with a robust, sloping roofline. Each of these SUVs can be booked with an initial booking amount of Rs 5 lakh. Commenting on the announcement, Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said, "The future is electric and we are thrilled to open bookings for not one but two electric SUVs - the Audi e-tron and the Audi e-tron Sportback in India.

The A4 facelift lift comes in two trims, the first one is Premium Plus variant which is the entry-level one and has a price tag of Rs 42.34 lakh. The costlier variant, the top-end Technology trim which costs Rs 46.67 lakh (ex-showroom).
