Hegde, who previously served as the Solicitor General of India, was a prominent figure alongside Kejriwal during the 'India Against Corruption' movement led by Anna Hazare over a decade ago. This movement played a pivotal role in bringing the issue of corruption to the forefront of public discourse.

Reports suggest that she arrived at the ED office situated on the A.P.J Abdul Kalam Road around 7 p.m., accompanied by an aide carrying a bag containing food for her husband.

The federal agency is set to launch an inquiry to determine whether these directives from the detained chief minister adhered to the special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court's stipulations issued to the ED and Kejriwal during his custody period, sources stated.

The directive focused on the water supply of the national capital and was communicated by the Chief Minister via a memorandum to Delhi Minister Atishi, responsible for the relevant portfolio.

During a press briefing at the state BJP headquarters following a meeting on poll preparedness, Sarma pointed out that had Kejriwal complied with the initial summonses, his arrest might have been avoided. He emphasized, "If the ED serves someone nine summonses and that person doesn't show up, it is evident that he is inviting his arrest. The ED didn't arrest Kejriwal, he invited the agency to arrest him."

Advocating for 10 days of custody, Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju, representing the ED along with special counsel Zoheb Hossain, highlighted Kejriwal's alleged involvement in utilizing the proceeds of crime, including demands for kickbacks from the 'South Group' in exchange for favorable treatment. 

The court's ruling came after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) requested a 10-day custody for Kejriwal in the case. During the remand hearing, the ED asserted that Kejriwal, as the national convener of the AAP, played a pivotal role in the excise policy scandal, alongside other ministers and party members.

The arrest of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader followed an extensive interrogation session by an ED team, led by a Joint Director, conducted at his residence. The development came after the Delhi High Court's decision earlier in the day, where it declined to provide Kejriwal with any interim relief.

Despite disagreeing respectfully with the Supreme Court's decision, the AAP remained steadfast in its belief in the justice system, expressing confidence that justice would prevail eventually. Highlighting Jain's fragile health condition, the party emphasized his ongoing struggle with pain and the aftermath of major spine surgeries, which have left him with numbness and imbalance, rating his suffering at a severe level.

Kejriwal has been called upon to provide his statement under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) at the agency's office on A P J Abdul Kalam Road on March 18, the sources stated.
