Truecaller has introduced a new feature that allows users to record both incoming and outgoing calls directly within the Truecaller app. This AI-powered call recording feature is part of the company's Premium plan, priced at Rs 75 per month or Rs 529 per year.
Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Managing Director and Chief Product Officer of Truecaller, emphasized the importance of providing users with greater control and flexibility in managing their conversations. He stated that this feature is valuable for both personal and professional purposes.
Users can utilize this feature to record and transcribe calls in both English and Hindi, regardless of the caller. While the service was initially launched in the US, Truecaller plans to expand it to additional markets and languages in the future.
For iPhone users, accessing the call recording feature involves opening the Truecaller app, navigating to the Search tab, and tapping 'Record a call'. This will initiate a call to the recording line provided by Truecaller, with an option to merge the calls displayed on the call screen. Users will receive a push notification once the recording is ready, and previously recorded calls can be accessed within the app.
Android users, on the other hand, have a dedicated recording button integrated into the Truecaller dialer. This button enables users to start or stop recording with a single tap. Alternatively, users can use a 'floating' button on other dialer apps to initiate or end recording. Similar to iPhone users, Android users will receive a push notification when the recording and transcription are available.
