Tim Cook Teases New Apple 'Air' Device Launching This Week: What to expect from the latest launch?

The most likely reveal is a fresh MacBook Air series, given the fact that Apple launched the MacBook Air M3 at about the same time last year. Nevertheless, other options are still on the table. Rumors indicate Apple is working on a slimmer iPhone model, and it could possibly use the "Air" name.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has set tongues wagging with a mysterious teaser of an imminent "Air" device, posted through his X (formerly Twitter) account. Coupled with the words "There's something in the air" and the caption "This week," Cook's message has got people speculating what Apple has up its sleeve.

Adding fuel to the rumor, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman had earlier reported that Apple intended to release new iPad Air models, as well as a revised Magic Keyboard, at the same time as the iPhone 16e. With the 16e having released last month, the iPad Air refresh also becomes a strong candidate.

As recently as last month, Gurman indicated Apple was working on 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air computers with the M4 chip. Further, the recent run on current MacBook Air stock at retail stores also points toward new models on the near horizon.

The new MacBook Air M4 is expected to introduce significant improvements, such as a faster Neural Engine for machine learning-related tasks and ray tracing support, which offers better gaming performance. Although the current MacBook Air models have a maximum limit of 24GB RAM, the new model could extend this to 32GB. The other speculated improvements are two more CPU cores, better storage bandwidth, and a 12MP selfie camera.

In addition, the M4-powered MacBook Air will probably provide better external display support. Although the M3 Air can already support two external displays with the lid closed, the new model might support the use of the built-in screen in addition to dual external monitors.
