Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, made his feelings against the new iPad Pro advertisement known as a "major fumble" when the advertisement was getting hit hard by social media users. This was revealed when a 22-year-old Indian student, Shaurya Sinha, bumped into Cook on a Stanford University hike and asked him about the recent backlash against Apple's iPad campaign.
"Met the one and only @tim_cook on a dish hike run at Stanford. Asked him about the new Apple iPad campaign and here’s what he said," Sinha shared the story of the encounter on social media.
“Yeah that was a major fumble." He added that the CEO did not seem to be bothered during the encounter.
The controversy was triggered when Apple posted a promotional video for its newly launched iPad series, where a hydraulic press was shown crushing several creative tools and devices—a representation that most users felt was "insensitive and disrespectful."
Social media was pretty quick and conclusive in calling out what it viewed as a serious misstep by the Cupertino-based firm. The technology behemoth apparently pulled the controversial commercial and issued a formal apology.
