A fresh report released on Monday revealed that OpenAI's ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot, has achieved an extraordinary milestone, amassing a record-breaking total traffic of 14.6 billion over the past year.
Consistently drawing an impressive 1.5 billion visits monthly, ChatGPT stands tall as the dominant force, claiming a staggering 60.17 per cent share of the entire traffic landscape. This data stems from writerbuddy.ai, an AI-driven writing assistant.
Impressively, the platform writerbuddy.ai observed a positive surge in net traffic growth, with a substantial 1.8 billion increase translating to an average monthly growth of 195.1 million visits.
The AI industry, as per the report, witnessed an average of two billion visits monthly in the past year, with a notable spike to 3.3 billion in the last six months.
This comprehensive report scrutinized data from over 3,000 AI tools sourced from various directories. It meticulously sieved out the top 50 most visited tools, encapsulating over 80 per cent of the AI industry's traffic during the period of study, spanning from September 2022 to August 2023.
Remarkably, ChatGPT emerged as the torchbearer in the AI tool sector, boasting an average usage duration of 30 minutes. Its primary user base thrived in the US (2.7 billion visits), trailed by India (1.3 billion) and Brazil (847 million). Notably, a substantial 58 per cent of the audience accessed the platform via mobile devices.
The report highlighted an interesting trend in the user demographics, with male users comprising a dominant 74.16 per cent. However, despite the strong numbers, ChatGPT's average engagement per session, clocking in at nearly 10 minutes, hovered around the industry average, suggesting room for potential enhancement.
Meanwhile, other formidable contenders in the AI chatbot realm, including Character AI, Google Bard, and Perplexity AI, collectively held a noteworthy 18.69 per cent share of the market's monthly visits.
Character AI, during the same period, observed a remarkable 3.8 billion visits, while Google Bard recorded 241.6 million visits. Both experienced noteworthy net traffic growth, with Character AI surging by 463.4 million visits and Google Bard witnessing a growth of 68 million visits.
