On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined US President Donald Trump-owned social media platform Truth Social, after the American president posted a message carrying a link to a video of a podcast of Modi's interaction with celebrated US-based podcaster and computer scientist, Lex Fridman.
PM Modi replied to Trump's post, thanking him for sharing the podcast. "Delighted to be on Truth Social! Forward to engaging with all the energetic voices here and having meaningful discussions in the times ahead," Modi posted on the platform.
He further added, "Thank you my friend, President Trump. I've touched upon a diverse set of topics, ranging from my life experience, India's civilisational perspective, international issues and more."
This marks PM Modi’s first interaction on Truth Social, a platform that President Trump frequently uses. His presence on the platform highlights the strong relationship between the two leaders.
The podcast, which is a three-hour discussion between PM Modi and Lex Fridman, was shared by President Trump on his platform earlier on Monday. Trump’s endorsement of the podcast is seen as a gesture of support for the Indian Prime Minister. The conversation covers a variety of subjects, including Modi’s personal life experiences, his views on global issues, and his reflections on his friendship with Trump.
In the podcast, PM Modi complimented President Trump for his "humility" and "resilience," referring to the American president's improvement and preparedness for his second term in office as opposed to the first. "Even after there was an assassination attempt on him while campaigning for the presidential elections last year, Trump had no fear and remained steadfastly committed to America," Modi said.
PM Modi also highlighted the common vision between the two leaders, one of their faith in their own countries. "His life was for his nation. His mirror reflected his 'America First' spirit, which I also do believe in — 'nation first.' I'm for India first, and for that reason alone we bond with each other so well. This is the one thing that does connect," Modi explained to Fridman.
The close rapport between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi has been apparent in recent times. The two leaders met recently during PM Modi's trip to the White House, where President Trump called Modi a "tough negotiator" in the course of their friendly talks.
