Board accepts FB opinion request on sharing users' residential info
According to Facebook, residential addresses can be relevant to journalism and civic activism, but "exposing this information without consent can create a risk to residents' safety and infringe on an individual's privacy." While there have been several high-profile instances recently where Facebook has removed this type of content, this request for a policy advisory opinion is not linked to a specific post, the Board said in a statement.
Facebook launches new initiative to help children be safe online
The initiative 'Report it, don't share it' is in collaboration with civil society organisations like Aarambh India Initiative, Cyber Peace Foundation and Arpan. The initiative was rolled out with an animated video which visually communicates the negative impact that the circulation of child abuse content could have on the child who's the subject of such content, even if it's about condemning the act.
Apple Podcasts Subscriptions and Channels now available
Apple Podcasts Subscriptions allow creators to host bonus content and ad-free versions of their shows, in exchange for a monthly subscription. According to 9to5Mac, Apple has partnered with large podcasts networks, including Wondery and Luminary, to get their paywalled shows available inside the Apple Podcasts app. Podcasts Subscriptions have been met with some criticism by the podcast community, in large part because of Apple's high fees.
Microsoft will end Windows 10 support in Oct 2025
The company quietly announced the news in a support page update, as spotted by Thurrott. Previously, the page noted when Microsoft would end support for certain versions of Windows 10, reports Engadget. It now states Microsoft started supporting Windows 10 Home and Pro on July 29, 2015 and reveals the operating system's "retirement date".
