The social media platform was inaccessible for the vast majority of the country's population, according to internet monitoring service GlobalCheck. Russian influencers on Instagram posted farewell messages to their followers, asking them to follow them on other social media platforms, or download VPN (virtual private network) software to bypass the ban.

MediaTek captures 46% share in Android tablet apps chips
MediaTek, driven by increased traction with leading Android tablet OEMs, captured 46 per cent of the Android tablet applications processors market (AP) during Q3 2021, a new report claimed. According to Strategy Analytics, the global tablet AP market declined 14 per cent in unit terms but grew 8 per cent in revenue terms in Q3 2021. Apple, Intel, MediaTek, Qualcomm and Samsung LSI captured the top-five tablet AP revenue share rankings in Q3 2021.
YouTube Vanced to shut down 'due to legal reasons'
After facing a legal threat from Google, the popular Vanced YouTube app is being discontinued. The developers have confirmed that they have stopped all further development of the project, and Vanced has been officially discontinued. According to replies to the original tweet, the app will continue to work, so for those who already have it installed. Apple dominated the list of top 10 best-selling smartphones in 2021 globally, as seven out 10 smartphones in the list were iPhones, a new report said. According to market research firm Counterpoint, the top 10 best-selling smartphone models contributed 19 per cent to the total global smartphone unit sales in 2021, compared to 16 per cent in 2020.
Apple Mac mini may keep existing form factor in 2023
The Mac mini has not undergone any major revisions in its size or shape over a number of iterations, AppleInsider reported on Saturday. While rumours say that there are changes on the way to the iconic design, one commentator feels that there may not be much change at all. "I think the new Mac mini in 2023 will likely remain the same form factor design," Kuo of TF Securities wrote on Twitter.
