Arm-based mobile computing chip market grew 27% in 2021: Report
According to research firm Strategy Analytics, Qualcomm led the Arm-based mobile computing chip market with a 34 per cent revenue share, followed by Apple with 31 per cent and MediaTek with 24 per cent. "Arm-based mobile computing posted robust revenue growth in 2021, driven largely by growth in smartphone applications processors," Sravan Kundojjala, Director of Handset Component Technologies service at Strategy Analytics, said in a statement.
We're an entertainment platform, not a social network: TikTok
Blake Chandlee, TikTok's president of global business solutions, told CNBC that Facebook is a social platform. "They've built all their algorithms based on the social graph. That is their core competency. Ours is not," Chandlee was quoted as saying. "We are an entertainment platform. The difference is significant. It's a massive difference," he added.
Twitter employees sceptical about their future under Musk

SpaceX 'violated' US labour law by abruptly firings employees
According to The Verge, labour lawyers now say the firings may have violated US labour law. The fired employees may also approach the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to sue SpaceX. "To be covered, an action has to be concerted (certainly the case here) and it has to relate to working conditions," Charlotte Garden, a law professor at Seattle University, was quoted as saying in the report late on Friday.
Tesla layoffs have also impacted hourly workers: Report
Informed sources confirmed that Tesla started another wave of layoffs yesterday that included many hourly employees in its sales and delivery teams across North America, reports the auto-tech website Electrek. Surprisingly, the layoffs come amid Tesla's being in the middle of a difficult end-of-quarter delivery wave, which Musk himself warned employees about, saying that it will be "nutty".
Reddit acquires machine learning platform Spell
Founded by former Facebook engineer Serkan Piantino in 2016, Spell provides cloud computing solution to allow people run resource-intensive ML experiments without high-end hardware. Local smartphone manufacturing volume grows 7% YoY in Q1
According to market research firm Counterpoint, the local smartphone manufacturing ecosystem stayed resilient amid global component shortages. "Smartphone manufacturing is increasing in India. In 2021, the shipments of 'Made in India' smartphones crossed 190 million units," Prachir Singh, Senior Research Analyst, said in a statement.

One-third top US hospitals' websites sent patient data to Facebook: Report
About 33 of the top 100 hospitals in the US are sending sensitive patient data to Facebook, now known as Meta, via a tracking tool installed on their websites, according to a media report. Whenever a person schedules a doctor's appointment, the tracker called the Meta Pixel sends Facebook data -- which includes details of medical conditions, prescriptions, and doctor's appointments, The Markup reported.
