In response, Brazil's solicitor general, Jorge Messias, criticized Musk's stance and advocated for regulations to prevent foreign platforms from flouting Brazilian laws. Messias emphasized the importance of domestic control over social media networks to uphold the rule of law and authority.

X Corp, in a statement, revealed being compelled by court decisions to block specific accounts in Brazil while being restrained from divulging details or the issuing judge's identity. Musk asserted that the blocking order violated Brazil's constitution, affirming the Brazilian people's rights to freedom of speech, due process, and transparency from their authorities.

The Supreme Court declined to comment on the matter, while Justice Moraes, known for combating online misinformation, is leading an investigation into an alleged coup attempt by former President Jair Bolsonaro. Moraes previously initiated an inquiry into executives at Telegram and Google over a campaign against a proposed internet regulation bill, which sought to hold internet companies accountable for illegal content.

The bill proposed hefty fines for failure to detect and report illegal material, shifting responsibility from the courts to internet entities.
