Apple to Phase Out MacBook Air Models with M2 and M3 Chips: Report

Just after Apple released the new MacBook Air with the M4 chip, the firm eliminated listings for MacBook Airs using the old M3 and M2 chips from its online marketplace, based on a report by technology website MacRumors.

The same change was noticed on Apple's Indian website, where shoppers could see pricing and availability information for the new M4-driven MacBook Air but not the older models featuring Apple's old chips or Intel chips.

Even so, these older models were still up for purchase on several e-commerce sites and may still be in stock at Apple's brick-and-mortar stores, depending on local availability and store management.

Apple's newest MacBook Air with the M4 chip debuted for $999—about $100 less than had originally been anticipated. The strategy was viewed as a bid to get people to update their equipment even in the face of budgetary limitations due to the current cost-of-living crisis.

While that is not the case now, Indian buyers will again be paying more than their American counterparts, thanks to a mix of GST, duty, and related charges.
