Sri Lanka have announced their 17-strong team for the highly anticipated tri-nation women's ODI series against India and South Africa, which gets underway later this month on home turf.
Captain Chamari Athapaththu will be at the helm of a side that has experienced a number of changes after losing their recent series to New Zealand.
Perhaps the most eye-catching inclusion is uncapped seamer Malki Madara, who has been repaid with an ODI place after a successful run of games in the T20I phase of the New Zealand tour. Her exemplary bowling performance was crucial in ensuring Sri Lanka's solitary win throughout the tour.
Moreover, two other new faces—Piumi Wathsala and Dewmi Vihanga—have also been picked up by the team, both of whom remain ODI debutants.
The tri-series, which commences on April 27 in Colombo, is a much-needed chance for all three nations to sharpen their teams before the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, to be hosted by India.
