Senior Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami recently underwent a successful surgery on his left achilles tendon, which has unfortunately ruled him out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) and potentially the T20 World Cup scheduled for June.
The 33-year-old, who last represented India in the ODI World Cup final against Australia on November 19, underwent the surgical procedure in London on Monday.
Shami, expressing his eagerness to return to action soon, faces a minimum recovery period of three months.
As a result of his surgery and recovery timeline, Shami will not be able to participate in the IPL, which is scheduled to take place from March 22 to May 26, according to earlier reports by PTI.
Furthermore, his availability for the T20 World Cup, slated to be held in the Caribbean and USA, remains uncertain due to his ongoing rehabilitation process.
