India fast bowler Mohammed Shami provided an update on his health status, revealing that he has successfully undergone surgery on his heel to repair his Achilles tendon. Taking to his social media platforms, Shami shared pictures of his recovery journey following the operation in the United Kingdom. Despite the positive outcome of the surgery, Shami acknowledged that he will require a considerable amount of time to fully recover and return to cricketing action.
In his announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Shami expressed gratitude for the successful procedure while emphasizing the need for patience during the recovery phase. The injury occurred during India's participation in the 2023 ODI World Cup, leading to Shami's absence from all cricketing activities since the tournament's final against Australia on November 19.
As a result of the injury, Shami missed subsequent series against Australia and South Africa, with recent developments confirming his unavailability for the upcoming Test series against England as well. Despite initially hoping for a swift recovery, the severity of the injury necessitated surgical intervention, prolonging Shami's absence from competitive cricket.
