BCCI president Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah presented a customized 'NAMO' India jersey to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their visit to his residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. The occasion marked the felicitation of the T20 World Cup-winning team led by Rohit Sharma, who had just returned from Barbados.
PM Modi, who received the Indian team at his residence with a warm welcome, including head coach Rahul Dravid, had an interactive session with the players at the event, where they proudly displayed the T20 World Cup trophy. The BCCI said in a thanksgiving message, "The triumphant Indian Cricket Team met with the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modiji, at his official residence today upon arrival. Sir, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for your inspiring words and the invaluable support you have provided to #TeamIndia," BCCI wrote on 'X' after the meeting with PM Modi.
Following the meeting, the team departed for Mumbai, where a celebratory 1 km victory parade from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium was organized by the BCCI. This parade culminated in a small felicitation ceremony, where BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who had also been present at the final in Barbados, oversaw the distribution of the Rs 125 crore cash prize awarded to the team for clinching their first ICC trophy in over a decade.
