Pant, Duckett Reach Career-High Test Rankings After Centuries in Leeds

Stellar centuries in the first-ever Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test at Leeds have seen Rishabh Pant and Ben Duckett reach new heights in the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings.

His knocks of 134 and 118 in the gripping contest that England clinched by five wickets also moved him up one spot to seventh on the Test batting chart.

England opener Ben Duckett, who helped England achieve a record run chase of 371 on the last day, was awarded Player of the Match for his 62 in the first innings and match-winning 149 in the second. Duckett gained five places with a career-high rating of 787 after his exemplary performance.

Although defeated narrowly, India had several players gain in the rankings. Captain Shubman Gill rejoined the top 20 after climbing five positions, while KL Rahul moved up 10 places to take the 38th position. Yashasvi Jaiswal, yet another Indian centurion of the match, remained at fourth position in the rankings.

On the England side, Ollie Pope's first-innings century elevated him three places to 19th. Wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith, who scored useful 40 and 44, moved eight places to a career-high 27th.

Among the bowlers, England's pace find Josh Tongue jumped 16 positions to 64th after he picked seven wickets in the game. Skipper Ben Stokes, who made contributions with bat and ball—scoring 53 runs and taking five wickets—advanced a place to 49th in the bowling rankings and three places to fifth among all-rounders.

Elsewhere, during the Galle Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh that resulted in a draw, a number of players made significant improvements. Bangladesh old-timer Mushfiqur Rahim jumped 11 positions to 28th from scores of 163 and 49. Current captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who scored centuries in both innings, jumped 21 spots to a career-high 29th place. Teammate Shadman Islam moved three positions up to 55th.

Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka's stellar 187 in the first innings pushed him 21 places to a career-best 31st in the batting rankings.

Among bowlers, Bangladesh spinner Nayeem Hasan jumped from 54th to 48th after his six-wicket match haul, including a five-for. Pacer Hasan Mahmud also advanced five places to 54th. Sri Lanka's Milan Rathnayake had a jump of 17 places, now ranking 69th.
