He changed his mind, played in a tournament to prepare for CWG and won his first Challenger Tour event in Lorient, France, in May 2022. He went to play in the Commonwealth Games and continued with playing squash.

The mixed doubles pair of Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale were also staring down the barrel after losing the first set 6-2. Bopanna had a brainwave and swapped the side of the court he was playing with his partner and they scripted a grand turnaround and won the match in the Match tie-breaker.

The Indian Memn's hockey team dominated the match with skipper Harmanpreet Singh (11', 17’, 33', 34') scoring four goals and Varun Kumar (41’, 54') contributing a brace. Mandeep Singh (8'), Sumit (30’), Shamsher Singh (46'), and Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (49') scored a goal each for India to get the win. Muhammad Khan (38'), and Abdul Rana (45') scored the goals for Pakistan.

An eight-member Indian contingent participated in Wushu at the Hangzhou Asian Games. Naorem Roshibina Devi was India's only medal winner in the sport. She dedicated her silver medal to the people of her crisis-ridden home state. Roshibina lost to home favourite Wu Xiaowei of China 0-2 in the final.

The win over the experienced second-seeded pair from China sent the Indian duo into the semifinals, ensuring them a bronze medal and also the first table tennis medal for India. After dominating the first two games, Anhika and Suthirtha endured a hiccup in the third game before winning the fourth to script an 11-5, 11-5, 5-11, 11-9 triumph.

Both of them clocked their personal best times as they finished behind Bahrain's Birhanu Yemataw Balew to claim for India the first 2-3 finish in the 19th edition of the Asian Games. Karthik Kumar, the 24-year-old Armyman from Uttar Pradesh, clocked 28 minutes 15.38 to claim the silver medal while Gulveer Singh finished in a time of 28:17.21 to bag the bronze medal. Balew took the gold medal in 28:13.62.

India came back after losing the first match before Saurav Ghosal and Abhay Singh won their matches to seal 2-1 victory for India. Abhay Singh defeated Noor Zaman of Pakistan, coming back from 2-1 games and facing match ball at 8-10 to level scores at 10-10 and then win the next two points and clinched a sensational victory for India.
