All England Open badminton: Sindhu enters semi-finals
In a quarterfinal match, Sindhu beat Akane 1621, 2116, 2119 in one hour and 16 minutes in the Super 1000 tournament.In the semifinals, fifth seed Sindhu will face sixth seed Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand. Earlier, in a quarterfinal match, Pornpawee beat unseeded Beiwen Zhang of the USA 721, 2113, 219 in 38 minutes.
Maiden call-up for Krishna in Ind's ODI squad for Eng series
All-rounder Washington Sundar, who played his only ODI match against Sri Lanka in December 2017, has been included in the team. Fellow all-rounder Krunal Pandya also finds a place. Pandya is yet to play an ODI match and his last international game was a T20I against Bangladesh in November 2019.
Kamal, Sathiyan, Manika, Sutirtha qualify for Tokyo Olympics
Kamal, meanwhile, qualified on Thursday by virtue of being the highest-ranked second-placed player among the five groups. Sutirtha, meanwhile, beat the higher-ranked Manika Batra 4-2 in the one-off match for a place in Tokyo. Commonwealth Games 2018 gold medallist Manika will go through as the highest-ranked second-placed player.

Paul Pogba goal gives United win over Milan in Europa League
Midfielder Pogba, on his return from injury, fired in high at the near post in the 49th minute on Thursday to give United the honours in the battle between former European champions, DPA reported. United led the first leg at Old Trafford until being denied victory by an injury-time equalizer but made no mistake in the return despite a lethargic first half.
Miffed Kohli calls for radical change in umpire's soft signal
Kohli felt that India was shortchanged when Yadav was given out despite replays being inconclusive. Yadav, who was batting on 57 off 30 balls, had played a ramp shot to fine-leg which was caught by Dawid Malan. There was a frame that showed that the ball had made contact with the ground while the side angle was inconclusive. However, he was given out as the onfield umpire's soft signal was out.
All England Open: All Indian shuttlers cleared to play
Earlier, men's singles players H.S. Prannoy and Sameer Verma and mixed doubles exponent Pranaav Jerry Chopra were among the four Indians who had returned positive results in the first round of testing at the Super 1000 tournament.

PV Sindhu chases elusive All England Open title in depleted field
Sindhu, who raced to the final of the Swiss Open Super 300 tournament earlier this month without dropping a game, crashed to a 21-12, 21-5 defeat to Spanish Olympic champion Carolina Marin. Marin, however, pulled out of the Championships on Tuesday due to an injury she suffered at the Swiss Open.
