Dutch 2010 World Cup finalist Robben announces retirement
Robben had decided to hang his boots in 2019 after his final season with Bayern Munich. But the star footballer took a U-turn a year later by returning to play for Dutch club Groningen, where he began his career in 2000. But Robben made just seven appearances for the club in the 2020-21 season due to calf injury. Through a social media post on Thursday, Robben has now decided to call time on his career permanently.

Indian Test team hit by Covid-19, player tests positive
Indian Test squad in England has been affected by Covid-19 after one of the players tested positive for the virus. The player affected has been kept in isolation and will not travel to Durham with the team for the camp that begins on Thursday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to officially confirm the name of the player who has tested positive. Media reports claim that the player has been affected by the Delta variant.

Leander Paes, winner of multiple Grand Slam titles, has said it will take a while before India can win an Olympic medal in tennis. "It is going to be a while before we win another medal in tennis," said Paes, who won a bronze at Atlanta 1996, India's only Olympic medal in tennis.

IOC updates Olympic Oath, increases number of oath-takers
