Return of Taliban deals a body blow to Afghanistan cricket and women's football teams

While the Afghan cricket board and some former players insist that Taliban loves cricket and will not hamper cricketing activities or harm cricketers or their families, there is absolutely no guarantee on how things will shape up in the coming weeks. Afghanistan is currently at the seventh spot in the ICC T20I rankings, ahead of Sri Lanka, the West Indies and Bangladesh.

Earlier, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) general secretary Mubashir Usmani was quoted as saying that the board will speak to the Indian cricket board (BCCI) and the UAE government regarding allowing crowds back into the stands. To this, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said that the BCCI would "love to have crowd" but not at the cost of players and peoples' safety.
Aditi Ashok qualifies for Women's British Open

Aditi, who finished fourth in the Tokyo Olympics after being in medal contention till the last few holes, finished second in the qualifying event, carding a two-under 68 at the 18-hour Panmure Golf Club. PM interacts with Indian para-athlete contingent ahead of Tokyo Games

Thibaut Courtois extends contract with Real Madrid

The new deal, signed on Monday, extends the Belgian international's former contract, which was due to expire at the end of June 2024, reports Xinhua. "Real Madrid and Thibaut Courtois have agreed to extend the player's contract and he will continue to be linked to the club for the next five years," explained the club on its official website. The former Chelsea keeper Courtois, on loan at Atletico Madrid for three seasons.
ICC T20 World Cup: India to take on Pakistan on October 24
