New Zealand's hopes now rest with Nicholls (36 not out) and Rachin Ravindra (2 not out) as they survived the few overs remaining for the day. Ravindra, who had denied India victory in the first Test at Kanpur holding the fort with last man Ajaz Patel, would be hoping to do the same one more time.
Asian Champions Trophy: Indian women's hockey team crushes Thailand 13-0
Gurjit gave India the lead in the second minute after an infringement by Thailand in their defensive third prompted the referee to award a penalty stroke. Gurjit, who scored four goals at the Tokyo Olympic Games, smartly put the ball into the back of the nets to give India a 1-0 lead. The early goal put Thailand on the back foot, and Vandana Katariya, the only Indian women's player to score a hat-trick at the Olympics, slammed the second goal five minutes later.

R Ashwin trapped New Zealand stand-in skipper Tom Latham for six with one that landed on the middle and went straight, catching the batsman plumb in front. Will Young was batting on seven with the next batter yet to come as the umpires took everyone in for tea. Earlier, India had declared their second innings for 276 for 7 in 70 overs just before tea on the third day, setting New Zealand a target of 540.
Hamilton becomes first driver to clinch Saudi Arabian GP pole position
The two Mercedes drivers secured a one-two grid position late on Saturday evening which will give them the advantage over the Red Bull driver at the Jeddah Corniche circuit, where overtaking may be difficult. Ferrari's Charles LeClerc was half a second back in fourth and Mexican Red Bull driver Sergio Perez rounded out the rest of the top five. The first-ever Formula 1 Free Practice sessions took place on Friday on the brand-new Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
Deccan Gladiators crush Delhi Bulls, emerge champions of Abu Dhabi T10 Season 5
Set a target that was always going to be difficult to say the least, Delhi Bulls couldn't find the momentum during their chase and eventually fell short by 56 runs on Saturday night. Chandrapaul Hemraj tried to get things going for the Bulls, as he smacked Russell for two boundaries and a six in the fifth over. However, he kept losing partners at the other end. Hemraj played a breezy innings of 42 runs off 20 balls, but his stay at the crease ended when he was dismissed by Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga in the sixth over.

Two-time Olympic medallist beat her opponent Yamaguchi 21-15, 15-21, 21-19 in an exciting clash that lasted one hour 10 minutes. She will now face South Korea's An Seyoung, who beat Thai top seed Pornpawee Chochuwong 25-23, 21-17 in the other semis, in the final. It was Sindhu and Yamaguchi's fourth meeting of the year. While Indian beat the Japanese shuttler at the All England Open and the Tokyo Olympics quarter-finals, Yamaguchi came out on top in the most recent meeting - the Indonesia Masters semi-finals.
T10: Team Abu Dhabi clinch third place
The Bangla Tigers openers Johnson Charles and Hazratullah Zazai set a good platform by gathering 23 runs off the first two overs, but, Zazai was dismissed by Naveen-ul-Haq and Ahmed Daniyal effected a brilliant run out to remove Charles in the third over. Daniyal made matters worse for the Tigers when he dismissed Captain Andre Fletcher for 6 runs off 6 balls in the fifth over.
Davis Cup: Russia beat Germany, set up final against Croatia
In the first match of the tie, Rublev cruised past Dominik Koepfer 6-4, 6-0 after 49 minutes to give the former champion's the perfect start. The World No 5, who has also beaten Roberto Quiroz and Elias Ymer this week, won 84 per cent (27/32) of his first-serve points and fired nine aces to triumph. Medvedev then sealed victory for the Russian Tennis Federation, overcoming Jan-Lennard Struff 6-4, 6-4 in 66 minutes. The 25-year-old committed just six unforced errors and saved the one breakpoint he faced.
ISL 2021-22: Mumbai City register 3-1 win over Bengaluru FC
Igor Angulo (9') opened the scoring on the night by converting a penalty with immense composure. Cleiton Silva (20') then scored with a sublime long-range direct free-kick bringing the game to equal terms. Mourtada Fall (54') rose highest to head the ball and send his team into the lead again. Ygor Catatau (85') got on the scoresheet after coming on from the bench to seal the win.
'Perfect 10': Ajaz Patel enters history books alongside Laker, Kumble
With figures of 10-119 in 47.5 overs, Ajaz joined legends Jim Laker of England (1956) and India's Anil Kumble (1999) as the third bowler to dismiss the entire opposing team single-handedly. Laker claimed 10-53 against Australia at Old Trafford on July 26, 1956 while Kumble bagged 10-74 against Pakistan at the then named Feroze Shah Kotla ground in New Delhi on February 4, 1999.
