Another spinner Harbhajan Singh, who recently retired from all forms of cricket, held the record for the best figures by an Indian in South Africa when he took 7/120 in Cape Town in 2011.

This season's tight international schedule might have to be restructured as cancelled games need to be repeated later in 2022. Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez talked about unfair competition.

With two days left in the match, South Africa need 122 runs to level the series while India look for eight wickets to script their maiden series victory in the 'Rainbow Nation'. Resuming from 34/0 at tea, Aiden Markram continued his nice nick from the second session, driving Shardul Thakur through point. But Thakur bounced back by rapping Markram on pads twice for lbw calls and then beating him on the fifth ball. Thakur closed the over by trapping Markram lbw with a nip-backer and smashing his back leg.

For India, stand-in skipper KL Rahul made a fighting fifty while Ravichandran Ashwin missed his half-century by four runs in a batting display where the middle-order, minus an injured Virat Kohli, failed to get going. Just like Centurion, India had won the toss and elected to bat first. But the similarities ended there as India got starts but co'ldn't stitch a big partnership which meant they had to settle for a modest total.

Kohli, who has been struggling a prolonged lean patch with the bat, will thus not be able to complete his landmark 100th Test in the series' third and final match at Cape Town. "Back spasm rules out Captain Kohli from the 2nd Test. Drop a (Heart Emoji) to wish King a speedy recovery! Hope to see you on the field for the 3rd Test Skip!," Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore wrote on Twitter.
