India announce 18-man squad for S Africa Tests, Rohit named ODI captain

The Test series will form a part of the new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. While Virat Kohli will lead the team, Rohit Sharma has been named as the new vice-captain of the Test team. However, under-pressure Ajinkya Rahane retained his place in the squad. Meanwhile, the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee also announced Rohit Sharma will lead India's ODI & T20I teams going forward.
WTA Awards: Australian player Barty is player of the year, British player Raducanu is newcomer of the year

For the second time Ashleigh Barty, Australia's world number one player was crowned WTA Player of the Year and US Open champion Emma Raducanu grabbed the Newcomer of the Year award, on Tuesday. Barty is Australia's second WTA singles No.1 player after Evonne Cawley, while Raducanu, who is just 19, is the first British woman to win a Grand Slam.
2022 Beijing Olympics: IOC does not see any need to postpone Winter Olympics

Around 55 days are left for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics Games to begin. Earlier, the IOC had to postpone the Tokyo Olympics, which were scheduled to take place in July 2020, to the same month in 2021, because the global situation worsened amid the second wave of Covid19 in many parts of the world. But this time the IOC does not foresee a situation in which it would be forced to postpone the 2022 Winter Olympic Games like it had to do earlier.

Especially this year in particular, I spent multiple weeks in isolation quarantining, which affected me greatly -- both mentally and physically. In addition, my grandmother spent several weeks in the ICU for a COVID infection, something that really hit me hard.

Stokes could, however, still be dropped from England's playing XI as skipper Joe Root will take a call on the final XI at the toss. Pace bowling stalwart and England's top wicket-taker in Test history, James Anderson too is missing from the playing XI. Anderson, an England spokesperson confirmed, isn't carrying an injury. Rather, the decision to leave out the 39-year-old has to do with managing his workload ahead of what will be a gruelling five-Test.
De Kock, Nortje, Rabada to lead SA challenge against Kohli's India

The controversy over his pull-out minutes before South Africa's game against the West Indies in the T20 World Cup in the UAE notwithstanding, de Kock has been included in the Test side being led by Dean Elgar, with Temba Bavuma as his deputy. De Kock was one of a number of South Africa players who had not been taking the knee ahead of recent internationals, including the team's T20 World Cup tournament-opener against Australia.
New Zealand's Williamson likely to be out of action for two months, says coach Stead

New Zealand coach Gary Stead said on Tuesday that Williamson's left elbow is giving him more trouble and the skipper is likely looking at eight or nine weeks out of action, However, Stead said that it is unlikely that Williamson might go for surgery. According to the report published in stuff.co.nz, Stead said, "His left elbow tendon flared up again through the last Test."

Djokovic holds the record for staying at the top for the maximum number of weeks and is now said to be eyeing the record set by Germany's women's tennis legend Steffi who stayed at the top for 377 weeks as per WTA rankings.  Djokovic has finished year-end No. 1 for the record-breaking seventh time. He has moved past another legend Pete Sampras who held the record for six times.
