U16 Asian Basketball Championships: India beat South Korea to end fifth, their best finish ever
This was the 4th time that these two teams have played against each other in the U16 Asian Championship and the first time that India emerged victorious at the Muilti-purpose Hall at the Al-Gharafa Sports Club. At 5th, this is also the highest final standing by any Indian team in the U16 Asian Championship, the previous record being 10th place in 2009 and 2011.

On Sunday, they mounted another fightback after Argentina had scored three goals within five minutes in the third quarter to make it 3-1. India had taken the lead in the second quarter with Salima Tete had given them the lead in the 22nd minute.
Hockey Pro League: India go down 1-2 as Netherlands bag title
With the championship title at stake, the Dutch pulled off a narrow 2-1 win to claim their maiden Pro League, finishing ahead of World and Olympic champions Belgium, who had to be satisfied with the second place despite a 5-0 win against England in London. The Netherlands finished with 36 points, one ahead of Belgium as India ended their campaign with a third-place finish.
Halle Open: Hurkacz defeats Medvedev to lift singles title
Poland's Hubert Hurkacz won the Halle Open title after defeating World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev in straight sets here on Sunday. The fifth-seed Pole broke Medvedev three times on his way to a quick-fire 6-1, 6-4 win and secured his maiden tour-level title on grass in just 63 minutes on OWL Arena. Claiming his fifth tour-level trophy in Halle sees Hurkacz projected to return to the Top 10 in the ATP Rankings for the first time since January.
MotoGP 2022: Quartararo wins and extends lead as Bagnaia crashes out in German GP
The Yamaha MotoGP rider not only scored consecutive victories for the first time this year but is now 34 points clear at the top of the standings. Aprilia Racing's Aleix Espargaro remains second in the title race after finishing fourth at the Sachsenring but the Ducati Team's Francesco Bagnaia has a mountain to climb after he crashed out while chasing Quartararo on Lap 4.
5-Nations U23 hockey: Indian jr women start with 4-1 win over hosts Ireland
Annu (12th min), Deepika Soreng (25th), Monika Dipi Toppo (45th) and Beauty Dungdung (47th min) netted one goal each for India while Mikayla Power (19th) netted the solitary goal for Ireland. The match started with Ireland putting pressure on India and earning a Penalty Corner in the fifth minute. However, the Indian defence stood tall and denied the hosts from scoring.
WTA Tour: Ons Jabeur clinches German Open title after injured Belinda Bencic retires
No. 8 seed Bencic suffered an ankle injury in the final game of the opening set, and though the Swiss player continued for three more games, she stopped the match while trailing 6-3, 2-1. Although the circumstances were unfortunate, No. 1 seed Jabeur now becomes the only player other than World No. 1 Iga Swiatek and this week's Birmingham champion Beatriz Haddad Maia to claim multiple titles this season.
IND v SA, 5th T20I: Persistent rain washes out Bengaluru decider, series shared 2-2
Stand-in skipper Keshav Maharaj, coming in for an injured Temba Bavuma, won the toss, maintaining South Africa's clean slate in winning the tosses in the series. The visitors brought Reeza Hendricks, Tristan Stubbs and Kagiso Rabada into the playing eleven in place of Bavuma, Marco Jansen and Tabraiz Shamsi. India, meanwhile, were unchanged, sticking to the same eleven right from the series opener in New Delhi, ten days ago.
