Nasser Hussain Rebukes Ben Duckett: Jaiswal's Batting Mastery Rooted in His Own Journey

After the conclusion of the third day's play in Rajkot, Duckett had commended Jaiswal for his bold century and implied that the current England team deserves credit for inspiring teams to adopt a more aggressive approach in Test cricket.

Former England captain Nasser Hussain has criticized Ben Duckett's suggestion that Yashasvi Jaiswal's aggressive batting in the Rajkot Test was influenced by England's 'Bazball' strategy, asserting that it is England who should be learning from the young Indian player.

However, England ended up losing the match by a significant margin of 434 runs, conceding a 1-2 lead to India in the five-match series.

Responding to Duckett's statement, Hussain remarked, "His comment on Jaiswal, that he has learned from us, I disagree with that. Jaiswal hasn't learned from you, he has learned from his upbringing and the hard work he has put in over the years, including his experiences in the IPL."

"If anything, I would observe him and learn from him," added Hussain during a discussion with fellow former England captain Michael Atherton on Sky Sports.

Hussain emphasized the need for England players to engage in introspection and make necessary adjustments ahead of the fourth Test in Ranchi.

He urged them to reflect on their performance privately and seek areas for improvement. "Otherwise, it becomes a cult, doesn't it? At times, Bazball in this regime has been described as a cult where criticism is not tolerated, either internally or externally. However, there is always room for learning and progress," Hussain remarked.

"I can recall the Ashes series, and I believe they (England) made changes in strategy," he concluded.
