Experienced goalkeeper PR Sreejesh showcased his skills in a crucial moment as the Indian men’s hockey team secured a victory over Spain in an FIH Pro League match through a penalty shootout on Monday.
The intense game saw both teams scoring two goals each during regulation time. Jarmanpreet Singh (1st minute) and Abhishek (35th minute) found the back of the net for India, while Jose Basterra (3rd minute) and Borja Lacalle (15th minute) scored for Spain.
The penalty shootout added to the excitement as the teams remained tied at 7-7 until Lalit Kumar Upadhyay gave India the lead. Sreejesh, India's goalkeeper, then made a crucial save by denying Spain's captain Marc Miralles, securing the win for the home team.
India's next challenge will be against the Netherlands on Wednesday.
