Fakhar Zaman on Saturday delivered a stunning performance in the 35th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 at M. Chinnaswamy stadium, securing the fastest ODI World Cup century for Pakistan while chasing an imposing target of 402 runs against New Zealand.

This remarkable feat shattered the previous record set by Imran Nazir back in the 2007 Kingston World Cup, where he achieved a century in 95 balls against Zimbabwe. Furthermore, Fakhar Zaman also overtook Nazir's record for the most sixes in a single World Cup innings by a Pakistani player. Imran Nazir had struck eight massive sixes during his remarkable 160-run innings off 121 balls against Zimbabwe.

Fakhar Zaman's 63-ball century places him jointly at the ninth spot on the list of the fastest World Cup centuries. Remarkably, this edition of the World Cup saw India's captain, Rohit Sharma, also achieving a century in 63 balls against Afghanistan.

The title for the fastest century in World Cup history, however, still belongs to Glenn Maxwell, who astonishingly scored a century in just 40 balls against the Netherlands, cementing his place in the cricket record books.
