Fakhar Zaman, the talented left-hander, showcased his prowess by reaching his century in just 63 balls during the 20th over of Pakistan's pursuit against the Kiwis. This remarkable feat shattered the previous record set by Imran Nazir back in the 2007 Kingston World Cup, where he achieved a century in 95 balls against Zimbabwe. Fakhar's century now stands as the swiftest by a Pakistani batsman in World Cup history.
Furthermore, Fakhar Zaman also overtook Nazir's record for the most sixes in a single World Cup innings by a Pakistani player. Imran Nazir had struck eight massive sixes during his remarkable 160-run innings off 121 balls against Zimbabwe.
Fakhar Zaman's 63-ball century places him jointly at the ninth spot on the list of the fastest World Cup centuries. Remarkably, this edition of the World Cup saw India's captain, Rohit Sharma, also achieving a century in 63 balls against Afghanistan.
The title for the fastest century in World Cup history, however, still belongs to Glenn Maxwell, who astonishingly scored a century in just 40 balls against the Netherlands, cementing his place in the cricket record books.
