Men’s ODI WC: Shubman Gill Takes Over as the New Top-Ranked Men's ODI Batsman, Replacing Babar Azam

Gill, who missed the first two matches of the World Cup due to dengue, has accumulated 219 runs from six innings, including notable scores of 92 against Sri Lanka in Mumbai and 23 against South Africa in Kolkata.

In the latest ICC men's batting rankings released on Wednesday, India's opening batsman, Shubman Gill, has ascended to the top spot, replacing Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam. This achievement makes him only the fourth Indian player to hold the top position in the ODI batting rankings, following the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli. India now boasts top-ranked players in both men's ODI batting and bowling rankings, with Gill and Mohammed Siraj leading the charts.

Gill, who missed the first two matches of the World Cup due to dengue, has accumulated 219 runs from six innings, including notable scores of 92 against Sri Lanka in Mumbai and 23 against South Africa in Kolkata.
