Recently won Olympic bronze medalist Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain earned a silver medal at the Grand Prix 2024 tournament in Czech Republic, meds reports have said. Lovlina's bout was not easy one right from the beginning of the tournament In the 75 kg category. She began with a hard-fought 3-2 win against England's Chantal Reid in the opening round. But in the second bout, she received a strong jolt when she lost convincingly 0-5 to Cindy Ngamba of the Olympic Refugee Team.
Lovlina Borgohain gave it her all in the final bout of day 15 of the competition but lost short by 2-3 against Li Qian of China, thereby settling for a silver finish. The Grand Prix tournament, which starts in the period June 12-15, is a round-robin competition among the best boxers in the 75 kg women's weight category that covers Borgohain, Ngamba, Qian, and Chantal Reid. Thanks to World Boxing, the competition resumed some of the most exciting bouts in addition to high class boxing. Borgohain's feat came as assurance that is she wasn't done yet on the biggest stage for boxers after inspiring display in Olympics in Tokyo.
