India win two more medals at Cairo Rifle/Pistol World Championship

With this win, India ended their Paris 2024 Olympics quota quest at two from the championship. Their tally now stands at 12 gold, nine silver and 13 bronze medals. The Women's 25m Pistol team comprising Rhythm Sangwan, Manu Bhaker and Abhidnya Ashok Patil first qualified for the top eight stage with a sixth-place finish in stage one of qualification where they totalled 873. Ukraine topped the stage with 880.

IOC in discussions with 10 potential hosts for future Olympic Games

"We are currently working with 10 interested NOCs and regions across four continents," IOC director general Christophe de Kepper said at the Association of National Olympic Committees meeting in Seoul, Xinhua reports. De Kepper did not identify who those potential bidders are but said the 10 bid projects "are at very different stages and are developing their ambitions according to their own regional or national timelines."

This is India's second quota in shooting for the Summer Games after trap shooter Bhowneesh Mendiratta, who had won the first in the men's trap at the Shotgun World Championships in Osijek, Croatia. Silver medallist at the Junior World Championships in Lima last year and a gold medallist at the Junior World Cup in Suhl earlier this year, this was Rudrankksh's first medal of any hue at the senior level.

This new visual system has been created to bolster the Olympic brand's core values, while enhancing consistency, recognition and impact across all IOC platforms, communications and publications, the IOC said via a media release. "The IOC recognised the need to create a comprehensive foundational identity, designed for use across all mediums and channels," the release said.

Khanna took charge of IOA after a court ruling ended Narinder Batra's reign as chief of the apex sports body in the country. "I am honoured to have been part of the IOA sports fraternity for the last many years having served in different capacities. It was a privilege for me to be part of the Commonwealth Games as Acting President where India did remarkably well," Khanna said in a letter.

IOC Session in Mumbai postponed, final warning to issued to IOA over governance, delayed elections

The IOC Executive Board (EB), in a meeting on Thursday, also issued a final warning to the Indian stakeholders to resolve their ongoing internal disputes, governance shortcomings and ongoing court cases due to which the elections, to be held in December 2021, have been delayed.
