List of India's lowest totals in Test cricket

This 46 all out, which had five batsmen going back to the pavilion without facing a ball, was the first time that the team failed to reach the 50-run mark in a Test innings at home.

India folded for an embarrassment 46 in just 31.2 overs to register their lowest-ever total in 293 home Tests on Thursday, undermined by New Zealand's flying seamers' brilliant execution of overcast conditions here.
This 46 all out, which had five batsmen going back to the pavilion without facing a ball, was the first time that the team failed to reach the 50-run mark in a Test innings at home.
It was the second instance when five Indian batsmen failed to contribute to any score on board against the Kiwis at home, after the Mohali Test in 1999. The earlier Indian record of lowest Test innings total at home dates back to nearly 37 years ago, against the West Indies in November, 1987 at Delhi.
The lowest ever total recorded by India was, however, four years ago against Australia when they were shot out for a mere 36 at Adelaide.
