Addressing the confusion surrounding his surgery, Suryakumar took to his official Instagram account to share an update with his fans and followers. In his post, he expressed gratitude for the support and love he received during his recovery period. He also assured everyone that his recovery is progressing well and hinted at an imminent return to cricket.

In his Instagram message, he stated, "Hello everyone, good morning. Hope you all are doing well. Just wanted to clear something up. Bit of a confusion, I guess. For those who aren’t aware, I was operated on for SPORTS HERNIA a few weeks back not for my ankle. Road to recovery is going really well. Thank you, everyone, for all the love and support, see you all soon."

There was confusion initially regarding the nature of his surgery, given his previous ankle injury in South Africa. However, Suryakumar's clarification puts all doubts to rest. Earlier, after his surgery in January, he had thanked everyone for their concerns and well-wishes for his health, assuring them of his imminent return to the field.

Despite being sidelined due to injury, Suryakumar's leadership skills came to the forefront when he captained India in the absence of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya during the T20I series against South Africa. His remarkable batting performances during the South Africa tour, including a quickfire 56 off 36 balls in Gqeberha and a magnificent century off 56 balls in Johannesburg, have further solidified his reputation as a top-notch T20I batsman.
