With the IPL scheduled to commence on March 22, Rahul's team, Lucknow Super Giants, is set to kick off their campaign against Rajasthan Royals in a daytime fixture in Jaipur on March 24.

Amidst his IPL commitments, Rahul's name has been floated for the wicketkeeper-batsman position in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the USA and the West Indies in June.

Rahul, 31, withdrew from the ongoing Test series against England after the first match in Hyderabad due to a quadricep tendon injury. Despite posting scores of 86 and 22 in the Hyderabad Test, he experienced discomfort in his right quadriceps, leading to his initial exclusion from the second Test in Vizag.

Although initially included in the squad for the last three Tests, pending fitness evaluation, Rahul admitted he wasn't at full fitness for the third Test in Rajkot, prompting him to seek medical advice in London.

This injury setback isn't unfamiliar to Rahul, who previously underwent surgery for a quadriceps injury sustained during an IPL encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore last year. Consequently, he missed the entirety of the IPL season as well as the World Test Championship final, only returning to competitive action during the Asia Cup.
