India's Ravindra Jadeja has also solidified his status as the world's No. 1 Test all-rounder, while Abhishek Sharma, a young opener, has topped the T20 rankings for the first time, as per the newly released ICC Men's Player Rankings on Wednesday.
Jadeja is now top of the Test all-rounder rankings with a whopping 422 rating points—117 points clear of Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz, ranked second. His commanding lead comes after a notable show in the fourth Test at Manchester, scoring a gritty unbeaten 107 and claiming four vital wickets.
"Jadeja has pushed his advantage at the head of the all-rounders' rankings after taking four wickets and a battling 107 not out," the ICC said in its website.
"He has gained 13 rating points and is on an overall 422, 117 rating points ahead of Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan. He has also risen five places to 29th overall among batters and one place to 14th among bowlers," the ICC further stated.
Meanwhile, in the T20 format, India’s left-handed opener Abhishek Sharma climbed to No. 1 with 829 points, overtaking Australia's Travis Head, who dropped to second with 814 points after missing the recently concluded T20I series in the Caribbean. Australia completed a 5-0 whitewash in the series, but Head’s absence cost him the top spot he had held for a year.
Washington Sundar also jumped prominently in the rankings. His first Test century, along with a gritty 203-run stand with Jadeja, were instrumental in gaining a draw for the fourth Test. Sundar is now eight places up to 65th in the batters list and also reached joint-13th place in the all-rounders' list.
"Sundar has also climbed eight slots to joint-13th among all-rounders, having also picked up two wickets in the game," the ICC added.
Joe Root further consolidated his position as No. 1 Test batsman, increasing his lead over New Zealand's Kane Williamson by 37 points. Root posted a dominating 150 in England's solitary innings at Manchester. England captain Ben Stokes also made an impact with a five-wicket haul and a crucial 141-run innings, moving three places higher to No. 3 among Test all-rounders—his highest ranking since December 2022.
Among England bowlers, Jofra Archer was in the midst of a resilient return. His three-wicket outing (3/73) improved his bowling ranking by 38 places to 63rd. Chris Woakes also improved one place to 23rd, having taken three wickets in the match, including a decisive early double-strike in India's second innings.
The Test bowling rankings find pacer Jofra Archer following his remarkable comeback after four years, his three for 73 taking him 38 places to 63rd," said the ICC.
"Chris Woakes is up by one spot at 23rd following his three wickets in the match, including a double strike in early Indian second innings," it further said.
Ben Duckett moved up five places to join the top 10 in the Test batting charts. Zak Crawley was at 43 and Ollie Pope at 24.
The end of the Australia-West Indies T20I series also saw the T20 rankings change. Australian wicket-keeper batter Josh Inglis joined the top 10 after his scores of 172 runs from the five games, including two half-centuries.
"Josh Inglis's 172 runs across the five-match series, in which he scored two half-centuries, has taken him six places to ninth place, while Tim David (12 places to 18th) and Cameron Green (64 places to 24th) have reached career-highs," the ICC said.
The only other movement from the West Indies camp was that of Brandon King, who moved nine places to joint-21st.
