IPL has reached a stage where even 300 is possible, Says Rinku Singh

Speaking with JioHotstar, Rinku has his say about increasing hype about the teams crossing the 300-run mark in IPL 2025, an idea that has been conceived because franchises have made aggressive, consistent batting throughout the innings more important.

Kolkata Knight Riders power hitter Rinku Singh feels that the Indian Premier League has risen so high that the team taking 300 runs for an innings would not be a thing unusual.

"Ji ha, we can do it. IPL has reached the level where 300 is also possible; we chased 262 runs last year. All the teams this time are capable - anyone can make 300," said Rinku with a confident voice discussing the shifted dynamics of the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad crossed 250 runs three times in the previous season, finishing runners-up. They were short of setting a new record in their opening match this season by a run, posting 286 for 7 against Rajasthan Royals — one run less than their IPL third wicket record of 287 for 3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Talking about his own position, Rinku spoke about what constitutes a finisher, including different requirements of staying calm and fit in heads for high-stress situations.

"I enjoy batting at No. 5 or 6 — I've done that for UP and in the IPL, so I'm comfortable with it. I lay a lot of importance on fitness because with 14 games in the IPL, it's my job to keep my body fit and recover well.".

"I also talk to Mahi Bhai sometimes — he tells me to stay calm and play according to the situation in the match. All is well if you stay calm," Rinku clarified.

The KKR batsman also spoke about his development, thanking experienced team-mates like Andre Russell for his continued growth.

"I have been learning from the time I started playing for the IPL. I observe Russell intently, especially how he plays in the last overs and how he uses his body to generate power. I simply observe and learn from him," he mentioned.
